ABOUT ME
My name is Mirche Avramoski from Tetovo, Macedonia, and I am an Orthodox icon carver dedicated to keeping an ancient spiritual craft alive. Unlike traditional painted iconography, my work is written directly into the grain of raw wood. Every piece I create begins as a prayer and a blank, plain timber board.Guided by Byzantine traditions, I meticulously draft the sacred geometry of the holy figures before picking up my hand chisels. I do not use modern automated machinery; every relief line, halo, and expression is carved by my own hands, ensuring that each icon is a unique, timeless window into the divine, built to be passed down through generations.

How long does it take to carve a single icon?
Because every piece is drafted and chiseled entirely by hand without automated machinery, creation times vary. A small house icon typically takes 3 to 4 weeks, while large church icons or intricate feast-day panels can take 6 to 8 weeks or longer.
How do I order a custom icon?
Commissioning an icon is a collaborative and personal process:
Inquiry: Contact me with your desired Saint or Feast Day, preferred size, and finish (pure wood, gold leaf, or silver leaf).
Drafting: I will sketch the traditional iconographic layout for your approval.
Carving: Once approved, I select the timber and hand-chisel your icon.
Delivery: Your finished icon is carefully packed and shipped directly to your door.
What types of wood do you use?
I carve exclusively on premium, seasoned hardwoods that resist warping. My primary choices are Linden (traditional for iconography due to its smooth grain), Walnut (for deep, rich dark tones), and Oak (for a strong, prominent grain).
What is the difference between the finishes?
Pure Wood: Coated only with natural oils to celebrate the natural grain and deep chisel reliefs.
Gold/Silver Leafing: I meticulously apply genuine metal leafing to the halos or background, creating a luminous finish that beautifully reflects church or candlelight.
Do you ship internationally and is it safe?
Yes. I ship my icons to Orthodox communities and collectors worldwide. Each sacred icon is wrapped in protective material and secured inside a heavy-duty custom box to ensure it arrives in pristine, flawless condition.
